getting back to the art of things...

With the first hints of a chill in the air, summer and all its fun and frivolity comes to its ever-bittersweet end. It happens every year, but it never stops feeling like a time of sudden transition; of something big and good ending too soon. And we can mourn, but not for too long… It’s still Virgo season after all, and what better way to honor that than to accept the inevitable, stay grounded and use this shift to really get back to the art of things?

Amongst all the noise of internet trends, imitation and cookie-cutter creation, it’s so easy to fall into patterns; to phone it in. But as fall snaps us all back into reality, we’re resisting the temptation. We still think it's possible to cut through the noise with something extraordinary.

Remember when you were little, feeling the butterflies buzzing about your stomach before jumping into an ice-cold pool? Your toes tingled and the hairs on the back of your neck pricked up, but jump you did, and the reward was great. A moment of shock, an awakening of the senses, and then a deep relief, when the thing you feared wasn’t so painful after all.

Remember that creativity, too, happens when you let go of the trepidation holding you back. Open yourself up to the possibility that your voice is worth hearing and then make it heard. If you’re feeling tugged in one direction, go that way. Even if you get a little turned around, at least you’re moving.

So, get your hands dirty. Take the plunge. Say yes to the first step and let the rest fall into place. Your inner artist will thank you…
Xoxo,
Caitlin
